How we rank

Lists on IndiaRestros are ordered by a formula we publish here. Money is not part of it. A restaurant cannot pay to move up, and paying for Direct Connect later will not change it either.

The formula

rank = 100 x ( 0.45 x confidence
             + 0.30 x completeness
             + 0.15 x (number of independent sources, up to 3) / 3
             + 0.10 x (has a phone number) )

Confidence is how sure we are that the place exists as described: how reliable its sources are and whether they agree. Completeness is how many of the basics we know: phone, website, timings, address, cuisine, pincode, menu, photos.

Searches sort by how well a place matches your words first, or by distance when you search near a point. The rank breaks ties.

Foodie ratings will join the formula once enough foodies rate places, and only ratings from foodies who were there will count.
